Description
The Blacktail Deer (Odocoileus hemionus) lives on the edge of the forest, as the dark interior lacks the underbrush and grasses the deer prefers as food, and completely open areas lack the hiding spots and cover it prefers for harsh weather. Deer are most often seen grazing in the early morning and evening when the temperature is cooler. This doe was photographed on Hurricane Hill in Olympic National Park near Port Angeles, Washington State, USA.
