The Dark-Eyed Junco (Junco Hyemalis) is the best-known of the juncos, a variety of small grayish sparrow with a dark shoulder and head. This bird is common across much of temperate North America and in summer ranges far into the Arctic. This Dark-Eyed Junco was photographed in Edgewood, Washington State, USA.
