Description
The 93 mile Wonderland Trail encircles Mount Rainier. The trail crosses many ridges and valleys, gaining and losing 22,000 feet of elevation along the way. The Wonderland Trail was built in 1915 and in 1981 was designated a National Recreation Trail. At 14,410' above sea level, Mount Rainier dominates the landscape of the Puget Sound region. Mount Rainier is the highest point in Washington State and is also the most glaciated mountain in the continental United States. This picture of Mount Rainier was photographed from the Wonderland Trail by Klapatche Park in Mount Rainier National Park, Washington State, USA.
