Description
There's a very unusual conifer tucked away in the high alpine basins of the Cascade Range of the Pacific Northwest. Each October when fall comes to the high country, the needles of the Alpine Larch change from green to glowing gold before they drop from the tree. This photograph, with Mount Stuart in the background, was taken from Ingall's Pass in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness of Washington State, USA.
