Description
The Western Tanager (Piranga ludoviciana), is a medium-sized American songbird in the cardinal family. Adult males are bright yellow with black wings and a flaming orange-red head. The plumage and vocalizations are similar to other members of the cardinal family. This western tanager was photographed while perched on a branch at Campbell Mesa in the Coconino National Forest near Flagstaff, Arizona, USA.
